Hertha Ayrton Royal Society
A notable incident in the history of women and the Royal Society was the proposal in 1902 of the physicist Hertha Ayrton as a candidate for the Fellowship. The image is generally considered to mark the award of the Royal Societys Hughes Medal to Hertha Ayrton in November 1906.
Phoebe Sarah Hertha Ayrton 28 April 1854 23 August 1923 was a British engineer mathematician physicist and inventor.
